Testing for Professional and Academic Examination Accomodation

Pacific Psychological Associates has, for over 10 years, worked with administrators at student disability offices at both private and public California universities, and colleges and universities across the United States.

Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments (ADAA) went into effect on January 1, 2009. The amendments revise the criteria for education accommodation when a learning disability is present, and further establish the standards for student eligibility under Section 504 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act. To conform to the accommodation criteria we typically administer the mandated “core battery” of psychometric tests, plus additional testing formats tailored to the individual to allow a thorough assessment of his or her unique accommodation needs.

Academic Accommodation. Our testing reports document where appropriate the need for individualized educational accommodation. Our familiarity with the expectations and needs of colleges and universities allows us to advise students of the likelihood they will meet Section 504 standards before we submit testing results to the college or university, and beginning the formal application process.

College Entrance and Professional Licensing Examinations. In addition to working with academic institutions, we have also conducted assessments in order to gain accommodation for clients who are sitting for college entrance and professional licensing examinations. Individuals who have completed our testing and consultation process have been provided accommodation for the following standardized tests: the SAT, the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), the MEDCAT, the LSAT, as well as other professional certification examinations, including the California State Bar Exam, professional engineering certifications, and medical board examinations.

Initial consultation may be arranged by calling our office at 310/536-0211 or emailing us at pacificpsych@aol.com.
